Ali is a surface pattern designer from rural Northamptonshire, England. Self-described as a curious person, with a passion for colour and design, and who loves creating happy, colourful work that makes people smile!
After graduating with a First Class Honours Degree in Printed Textiles from Derby University, she started work as a lecturer teaching visual studies to interior design students and freelancing as a surface pattern designer creating hand painted work for the home décor and stationery markets. Ali also has experience in the manufacturing of glass and ceramic transfers for companies such as Royal Worcester and Denby.
After taking a career break to have a family, Ali returned to the industry surface pattern industry. Pattern design is a real obsession, after watching as many online courses as possible and watching countless tutorials to feed her passion. Her design process starts with an inky drawing, painting or cut paper before finishing off the final design digitally in either Illustrator or Photoshop.
When Ali isn’t designing, you can find her hanging out with her family and knitting colourful socks (another obsession!).
