Helen Black is a freelance designer living in the coastal city of Brighton in the U.K along with her partner and cat Earl.
Originally from Lancashire Helen came from a creative family and has always loved drawing and art. After studying printed textiles at Birmingham, Helen went on to work for various companies in London and Brighton before taking the plunge to go freelance.
Since finding her own style she has been featured in the Print & Pattern Nature book and worked with clients including, Talking Tables, Hallmark, Woodmansterne and Ling Design, designing for many products from party tableware to jigsaws as well as cards. Helen uses a mix of painted, drawn and digital techniques, black ink being her tool of choice when creating textures and patterns for her work.
Helen loves to create fun characters and forals in punchy, vibrant colours, nearly always using a hot pink! When not designing Helen loves to swim in her local lido, walking along the beach, usually litter picking and chilling at home with a spooky movie as she loves Halloween. She also loves a good fancy dress party.
